Would all the computer challenged people please stand up!

After 5 years of being in the multi media industry I have encountered many people who claim to be computer illiterate and technically challenged. In my experience most of the time these people actually really do comprehend the basics of the internet and are just hiding behind the fear of coming across as uneducated or behind in the times.

I'm here to tell all you doubtful people to stand up and take charge of your knowledge. Erase the phrase "This my be a stupid question" from your vocabulary, there are no stupid questions! We welcome your questions and are here to educate you and make you more comfortable with the process because it is just going to get more and more advanced as the years progress.

The best way to figure out how the internet works is to try to break it. Yes that is correct I'm telling you to try to break your computer!! ;) Now I don't mean smash it on the ground or open the thing up and take it apart, but go online and press all the buttons you can see, if you want to make sure you can backtrack in case you do something that you may want to change back write down your process. Click on all the header menus in internet explorer (that's usually a safe area to start) and see exactly what they do, usually there will be an explanation.

The most effective way is to read through a manual but even better, if you've heard a computer phrase used and you don't know what it means...GOOGLE IT! That's double the learning experience for you!

Ok so everyone here is a question: What does it mean when a website is in your cache? Let's see who can come up with the answer first! (those of you who already know please refrain from responding it doesn't count if you are a web guru!) Also don't forget to include your source of information so we can validate it and other people can use the same source for their own guidance.

Any other questions? please feel free to ask us we are your multi media experts at your service!

Is your true worth defined by strangers?

Hey Everyone,

Lately I've been thinking about the concept of fame, and famous people and how one day their whole lives change because the media decided they were...??? special? newsworthy? hot? talented? I write about this because in many ways it pertains to aspects in our non famous lives. I mean today being famous or "recognized" in your industry or in the media defines the validity of your company or in many cases self worth. We try so hard everyday to capture the attention of perfect strangers in hopes that they will see us as valuable to them and thus a business exchange happens.

If you think about it, we are all somebody's looking for other somebody's validation and we intern validate the other somebody's and it is a constant cycle. There are those who fight hard to get into the limelight and those who stay encompassed in the circle they have created. So we brand and we market and we market and we brand and we hire P.R. agents and we try to get published and we become brainwashed by societies definition of important.

This is funny, I own a media company isn't this blog a bit of an oxy moron? The truth is the choices we have in business are pretty simple. We can see that the above is a little distorted and fight against the grain to do something different to be successful without buying into the propaganda, media buys, brainwashing etc. Or we can be a team player and be an individual one at that. They are both difficult areas to master because we are all the same... and even though you will argue to the death that you are not like your annoying neighbour it is irrelevant because we are all the same individuals trying (or not trying) to make our mark in a unique way.

I guess the saying "first impressions count" runs a lot deeper then one may think... the integral part of a business meeting, first consultation, first date, etc. Whether you like it or not, it matters a whole lot! What you wear, how your business looks visually, your personality they all play an integral role in your success. We try to help you define yourself first, you may or may not become famous but the important thing is that you look like a star to all of your potential and existing clients.

Signing out for the weekend.

There is a race to the top of Google and someone Rich is WINNING!!

Everyone is talking about the importance of search engine optimization. There is this exclusive club out there that we all want to be a part of and that is the top ten list on the first page of Google. It is quite obvious why we all want to be members of this VIP society... it means big profits and brand recognition! So how do we compete with the millions of others like us trying to climb that Google ladder? There are so many tricks to getting your site in Google's good books and the honest truth is NO ONE has control over where you get ranked EXCEPT Google, Yahoo, MSN and all the other wonderful engines out there who control our cyber ranked destinies.

There are experts out there (like us ;o) who know what it takes to get your site crawled and approved by our beloved search engines. Does SEO work? I mean think about how many people spend a lot of money to have top rankings whether it be organic or sponsored listings (to find out more about the difference feel free to contact us) the results usually surpass the expenses ten fold. It is the best way to have the right clients find you and your company. They know what they want and if they are calling you then they are close to closing the deal.

Now you have a whole other topic of discussion... What does your website look like? and is it attractive enough to stand out from your competitors and create that conversion from search to find! That my friends is reserved for future posts so you will have to come back to learn more about that... how to maintain a knockout website and still have it search engine friendly... a task only the talented possess.

If you want more clients this is the best way to achieve that, no cold calling, networking etc. those are all good and well but they take so much time and effort... wouldn't you rather just sit back and let the business come to you?

It works for us!! We love it!! search "Toronto Web Design" and see our sponsored listing as well as "Custom web design Toronto" for our top organic listing...

till next time... happy Googling!
